The creation of a new government in Somalia in March 2017 provides an important opportunity to address with international support many of the country's pressing human rights problems. Successive Somali governments and international supporters have not paid sufficient attention to the numerous violations of international human rights law or to violations of international humanitarian law committed by all parties to Somalia's ongoing armed conflict.
